Waste Turned into Value as Schools Embrace Recycling

News Desk Report

FanMilk Ghana, in collaboration with MINIPLAST, has successfully concluded the 2025 edition of the Fan Milk School Caravan, a nationwide initiative promoting environmental stewardship, healthy snacking, and youth engagement.

The campaign, which toured major cities across Ghana, encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices through interactive learning and friendly competition.

Participating schools were equipped with clearly labelled bins for the collection of FanMilk wrappers, instilling the importance of proper waste disposal and recycling from an early age. A competition among schools to identify those with the most effective waste collection and segregation systems yielded impressive results.

Over the course of the initiative, 1,000 schools engaged across three regions, collecting over 1,025 kg of plastic waste. This effort led to the production of approximately 35 kg of recycled pellets, which were repurposed into bin liners. This process demonstrated a practical circular economy model and reinforced the importance of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in action.

The initiative highlights the power of investing in young minds to shape a more responsible future. By engaging students in sustainable practices, FanMilk Ghana and MINIPLAST are fostering a culture of environmental responsibility that will have long-lasting impacts. The commitment shown by participating schools has been commendable, and their efforts will contribute to a more sustainable environment.
