The Young Green Entrepreneurs initiative is taking a significant step forward with its evolution into a consortium, aimed at addressing critical gaps in Ghana’s green ecosystem and promoting sustainable development.
The move is expected to bring together stakeholders from academia, research, policy-making, and other sectors to promote green entrepreneurship, green skills, and green jobs.
Maxwell Beganim, Convener of the Young Green and Sustainability Entrepreneurs Consortium, announced the development at a validation workshop.

He explained that the consortium will focus on addressing fragmented legal frameworks and financing challenges facing green entrepreneurs. “The legal framework supporting green entrepreneurs is fragmented… We need a platform where actors can come together and consolidate policies and acts to support young people doing innovative work,” he said.
Mr. Beganim highlighted that the initiative had conducted research to identify gaps in the green ecosystem, revealing financing as a major bottleneck. The consortium plans to develop a roadmap with specific goals, including mapping SMEs and tracking green jobs. He noted that the validation workshop aims to gather input and feedback on the research, with the aim of finalizing the consortium’s strategy.

“The validation workshop is to gather input and feed into the research… We’re calling on actors within the green space to rally behind this consortium,” Mr. Beganim said. The Young Green Entrepreneurs, Strategic Network for Development (SYND) is convening the consortium, which will be open to interested stakeholders.
Mr. Beganim explained that the consortium’s formation is a response to the growing need for a coordinated approach to green entrepreneurship and sustainability in Ghana. He emphasized that the consortium will provide a platform for stakeholders to share ideas, resources, and expertise, ultimately driving growth and innovation in the green sector.
The consortium’s efforts are expected to contribute to Ghana’s sustainable development, promoting green entrepreneurship and climate resilience. With the country’s current emission targets not being met, the consortium’s work is seen as a crucial step towards a more sustainable future.

The Young Green Entrepreneurs initiative is working to enhance entrepreneurial spirit in Ghana, focusing on green entrepreneurship and sustainable enterprise development. The consortium’s formation is a significant milestone in this effort, bringing together stakeholders to drive growth and innovation in the green sector.
