Accra, Ghana — Leading voices from Ghana’s climate and development sectors will convene on June 26 for the Ghana Climate Centre of Excellence Coalition Meeting, where Climate Watch Africa has been invited to deliver a keynote address on the critical role of media in advancing climate awareness, accountability and action across Africa.

The invitation reflects growing recognition of Climate Watch Africa’s contribution to climate communication and public engagement. Organisers say the meeting will bring together media organisations, civil society actors, policy influencers and technical experts to strengthen collaboration, enhance knowledge sharing and build stronger partnerships for coordinated climate action across Ghana and the wider African continent.

In an official invitation to the organisation, the Ghana Climate Centre of Excellence highlighted Climate Watch Africa’s significant role in shaping public discourse on climate issues and influencing responses to climate change at both the community and policy levels.

“Given the important role of Climate Watch Africa in the media space, your organization continues to play a vital role in shaping climate narratives, increasing public awareness, and influencing both community and policy-level responses to climate change. We therefore consider your participation as keynote speaker both timely and highly valuable,” the invitation stated.

As part of the programme, Climate Watch Africa has been invited to deliver a keynote presentation on the theme: “The Role of Climate Media in Advancing Awareness, Accountability, and Action Across Africa.”

According to the organisers, the presentation is expected to explore how media can shape climate discourse, strengthen public engagement, combat misinformation and foster collaboration among governments, civil society, the private sector and development partners to accelerate climate action.

The Ghana Climate Centre of Excellence said the coalition meeting forms part of efforts to build stronger networks among climate actors and create opportunities for learning, partnership and coordinated action in response to the climate crisis.

Climate Watch Africa has established itself as a leading platform for climate journalism, advocacy and public education, working to amplify African voices in global climate conversations and promote awareness of issues such as climate finance, adaptation, resilience and sustainable development.

Through its reporting, stakeholder engagements and strategic partnerships, the organisation has contributed to expanding public understanding of climate challenges and opportunities while encouraging evidence-based discussions on climate policy and action.

The invitation to serve as keynote speaker is being viewed as a significant endorsement of Climate Watch Africa’s work and its growing influence within Ghana’s climate and development landscape.

The June 26 meeting is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and identify practical pathways for advancing climate resilience and sustainable development across Ghana and the African continent.
