Abdulkareem Mojeed is a multiple award-winning business and environment investigative journalist whose work sits at the intersection of science, journalism and environmental sustainability.
A graduate of Botany and Ecological Studies from the University of Uyo, Abdulkareem has leveraged his scientific background to deepen his reporting on some of the most pressing environmental and development challenges facing Africa and the world.
His areas of journalistic interest and expertise span biodiversity conservation, climate change, agriculture, food security, oil and gas, energy and power. Through investigative and evidence-based reporting, he brings complex environmental issues closer to the public while examining their implications for communities, economies and ecosystems.
Over the years, Abdulkareem has covered major regional and global environmental events, including African Climate Week, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) and international plastics treaty negotiations. His reporting and participation have taken him to major environmental and climate platforms in Kenya, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan and Geneva, Switzerland.
His commitment to environmental journalism has earned him recognition both locally and internationally. He has participated in several prestigious local and global journalism fellowships, including the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) Diversity Fellowship in Philadelphia, United States, and the Y. Eva Tan Conservation Reporting Fellowship by Mongabay.
Beyond journalism, Abdulkareem is a passionate nature enthusiast who remains deeply interested in the natural world and the need to protect it for future generations.
Away from work, he enjoys travelling, reading, and watching and playing football.
Through his journalism, Abdulkareem continues to demonstrate the value of combining scientific knowledge with investigative storytelling to shed light on environmental challenges and promote informed public discourse on the future of Africa’s climate, ecosystems and natural resources.
