Accra, Ghana – Women innovators, entrepreneurs, and climate advocates have been given a platform to showcase transformative solutions aimed at tackling environmental challenges and advancing sustainable development.
The initiative formed part of activities marking the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 commemoration, organised by the Africa Climate Collaborative in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy (CEGENSA), University of Ghana.
The event brought together organisations, groups, and individuals working on climate solutions, providing an opportunity for participants to present innovative ideas and compete for grant support to expand their projects.

Participants showcased a range of solutions focused on climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, clean energy, and community empowerment.
The projects highlighted the importance of locally driven innovations and inclusive approaches in addressing growing climate challenges while ensuring that women and underrepresented groups play a central role in building a sustainable future.
Following a competitive pitching session, three outstanding teams were selected to receive grants of up to **GHS 100,000** to further develop and scale their climate initiatives.
The winning projects were recognised for their potential impact, sustainability, and ability to create meaningful change within communities.

Organisers, however, noted that the support will extend beyond the grant recipients. Other participating teams will undergo a tailored capacity-building programme designed to strengthen their ideas, improve fundraising readiness, and prepare them to attract future investment and partnerships.
Through mentorship, training, and technical guidance, the participants are expected to enhance their ability to transform innovative concepts into practical climate solutions.
The Africa Climate Collaborative and CEGENSA said the initiative demonstrates their commitment to promoting gender inclusion, empowering women entrepreneurs, and creating opportunities for climate innovators to contribute to Ghana’s sustainability agenda.
The organisers believe that supporting women-led climate action is critical to developing resilient communities and accelerating solutions to the global climate crisis.
