Climate Forward Summit Shifts Focus from Dialogue to Action on Waste-to-Wealth

Accra, Ghana – Organisers of the 2026 Climate Forward Summit have called for concrete action to transform Ghana’s growing waste challenge into economic opportunities, stressing that the country’s environmental problems require implementation rather than endless discussions.

Speaking at the summit held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Chief Executive Officer of Implementers, Kafui Prebi, said the annual gathering was designed to move beyond policy dialogue and inspire practical solutions that promote a circular economy.

According to him, the summit seeks to expose business and investment opportunities within the waste management sector while encouraging participants to leave with practical commitments that can drive change.

“There are so many talk shops, but I don’t want this to become another place where people sit together, have conversations and do nothing,” he said.

“I am action-oriented. I want this to be an action shop where every participant leaves with at least three things they can do to contribute to turning waste into wealth.”

Prebi said Africa’s waste challenge should be viewed as an opportunity to create jobs, support green enterprises and accelerate the transition to a circular economy rather than merely an environmental burden.

He noted that converting waste into valuable products could stimulate entrepreneurship while addressing pollution, flooding and climate-related challenges confronting Ghanaian cities.

The Climate Forward Summit brought together policymakers, private sector actors, development partners, researchers and entrepreneurs to discuss practical pathways for integrating waste-to-wealth solutions into Ghana’s green industrialisation agenda.
